The Twelves and GRUM
04/15/2010
You’d have to blind deaf and dumb for the past year to have not heard The Twelves.
But… if you don’t know them, they’ve remixed MIA, Metric, Iggy Pop, Groove Armada, and Fever Ray among others with their signature electro popĀ sound. The Twelves’ live performance returns May 6 to Vancouver at Venue with rising indie dance/nu disco star of 2009-2010: GRUM. With the inimitable U-Tern and myself also playing.
At the risk of sounding like a complete fanboy – my excitement for this show is off the charts, kind of like the Breakbot show of last year. Check out some of the tunes below, you do not want to miss this night. Seriously I’ll pay for your ticket if you come and aren’t blown away.

Breakbot is Bonafide
12/02/2009
Hey all,
So the Breakbot show went down something ridiculous. What a privilege to open for him, really made my year. Lessons learned from the night:
1) Ableton sets when done right can rock it as hard as anything else
2) playing on shit needles off Serato is never worth it (learned the hard way)
Here are some pics… rocking out with U-Tern Sam Demoe and DJ Neoteric, the Bonafide Saturdays crew at Shine Nightclub. Thanks for The Futurists for documenting the madness.
Here’s one of the tracks I played, can’t get enough of Munk lately, a sick little funker that can set the table and get people shaking it.
Munk – No Milk (Ben Mono Remix)

Make sure you stop by BONAFIDE this Saturday, I’ll be dropping bombs in the VIP room with DJ Jesse James with Feel My Bicep, U-Tern and Tyler Fedchuk in front. Not a bad lineup. We’re also giving away those music discs and it is my pseudo-birthday so the chaos will live on. Get at me for the list.
xoxo

Metronomy – A Thing For Me (Breakbot Remix)
Royksopp – Happy Up Here (Breakbot Remix)
Breakbot is somewhat under the radar, even in the dance community – but not for long with his versatility and consistent quality. Check the melancholy pianos on the Metronomy mix, the nu-disco Royksopp remix, or his Ed Banger/Mr Oizo-like original Iron Zombie. Get funky on a Friday…
